In this blog a group reading THE GOD OF SMALL THINGS, by Arundhati Roy, will be discussing reading questions, theories and ideas raised by the text, and we will work to form analysis based on readings, posts and conversations in class and on this blog. Respect for each other and each other's intellect is of the utmost importance to us.

I both agree and disagree with your post. Although I think that apart from any external factors, Ammu and Velutha could have made it, I also think that given their circumstances and the times, it was literally impossible for them to be together for long.
I also think that that was part of the reason they found each other so alluring-the controversy of it all.
Had they been in the same social standing, I don't know how drawn to each other they'd really be.
