"Revolution is not a dinner party. Revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence in which one class overthrows another." (pg 265) Comrade Pillai is threatening Chacko about Velutha and his presence in the factory. That there will be an uprising against him since he is a Paravan. "He deftly banished Chacko from the fighting ranks of the Overthrowers to the treacherous ranks of the To Be Over-thrown." (pg 265) Comrade Pillai wanted to take authority over Chacko though he "realized that what he really needed was the process of war more than the outcome of victory." (pg 266) Why did Comrade Pillai want this change to happen, was it because Comrade Pillai wanted to take revenge on Chacko and him running the factory. Or was it a specific revenge on Velutha being a Paravan?

I think that they don't want Velutha around is because he is a Pavaran and he has the skills and the knowledge to take over the pickle factory but talking to the other workers. Comrade also might not want Velutha around because when he does a good job and gets a raise the workers will expect themselves to get a raise also.
That quote about revolution is actually a quote by chairman mao. In my mind i see it more as Comrade Pillai's fear of social change, when a paravan can hold a "touchable" job in a respected factory. yet that being said i'm sure that he looked at it as an opportunity to possibly humiliate big name corporations and upperclass members of society. Such as Chacko. However clearly comrade Pillai is not so much a Marxist as he might like to think, for two obvious reasons, one the most obvious he is discriminating against a class which goes against some of the more outspoken Marxist ideals, secondly, he is doing this based off of ancient and outdated social, and religious stereotypes. Which for a marxist, is a big no no, everything of that sort must be discarded in order for the proletariat to band together and succeed.
