I am wondering why Estha and Rahel sometimes tend to read something backward. They are only 7~9 years old, but they could read well so that they read something backward because they think it is funny. However, when they read something in the school, Miss Mitten, teacher of Estha and Rahel, hated them reading backward, and made them to write they are not going to read anything backward again hundreds times. A few months later she was killed by a milk van that had benn reversing.
Is this event mean Estha and Rahel is actual SATAN? probably not, but it is kind of scary that Miss Mitten was killed by driving backward car.
Is this event related to what happened to Sophie Mol? When Estha and Rahel envied to Sophie Mol? I think Estha and Rahel actually have some weird power...

I think that it is their own entertainment. They read backwards a lot at different moments in the book, when there isn't much going on around them.
This part extremely attracts me. It is pretty scary and horrifying that Miss Mitten, was killed by the truck that was reversing. Whom hated Estha and Rahel reading something backward and gave punishment to them. This part makes me wonder, why the book tell this part as if Estha and Rahel was protected, and whomever tried to harm them would be harmed. But as the story goes, I don't see any protection on Rahel and Estha. I don't really understand the true meaning of this.
I think that to say that they have a supernatural power is a little too ambitious. However, they feel each-others feelings and presences. They certainly have strange abilities but being able to read backwards I would imagine is due to how very smart they are and sometimes they get bored with doing what is normal or expected. Possibility it is part of their quest to be noticed and loved, trying to attract peoples attention because they are ignored so often
