The passage describing Velutha's walk back from seeing Mamachi was depicted in a way that captured everything Velutha must have been feeling. He had an outer body experience and he watched himself walk around in the rain. Roy described him as feeling "tired". I thought this word was very accurate in describing what he was feeling. Tired of the oppression, tired from work, tired of the hiding of his love.

Yeah, Velutha is really tired of everything that happened to him so far. He is just disappointed as much as possible and cannot have any other hope for the future. He is just a victim of caste system in India. Moreover, he is not 'tired' because of what happened in past, but he might knew what will happen to him in the future. He might know that polices will come to his house and bit him up to death. However, he knew that he cannot avoid the horrible future so that he seems really tired.
